Renegade Participant Agreement

Our two-hour, weekly Renegade sessions are run on a month-to-month basis with no more than 12 participants at a time. Renegade has one singular objective in mind as our mission: to empower youth to see their own worth and recognize how capable they are of designing and living the life they envision. This is done using multiple modalities, such as the implementation of unifying rituals like playing in a drum circle and peers offering beads to each other when they see someone stretch themselves. These beads will be added to their leather totems as a physical representation of their internal growth.

Part of what makes Renegade so powerful is letting members reflect on and establish their own Screen Smart boundaries. They’ll have a written set of goals established that they’ll report to the group on and can adjust from week to week. This is done independently with no input or monitoring from parents/guardians.

The most exciting aspect of Renegade is the I Have Impact project they participate in. Any member of the group can officially propose a project and recruit help from peers as soon as they’ve come up with a plan and had it pre-approved. The project has to be something that’s too big to accomplish alone and must expand their comfort zone-the more the better. Carrying out and completing this project is how teens are promoted into a Teen Advocate role upon graduating.

This group is ideal for teens who are ready to up their game and find meaningful connection in a group of like-minded peers. It’s the perfect group for teens who want to talk about things that really matter and listen as others share their thoughts and insights. It is NOT suited for teens with significant mental disorders, those with a history of substance abuse or those with criminal records. Each member must commit to an oath of confidentiality upon joining (unless illegal, abusive or self-injurious behaviors are reported). Members also understand the importance of being respectful to all and supportive of the Renegade mission, as stated above.

If a session is missed it cannot be made up and no refunds will be given, but you will be notified as to what took place on the day you were gone via email. Because sessions are paid for a month in advance, we recommend completing your membership with us at the end of a month. If that’s not possible, you can discontinue membership and be refunded for the portion remaining of that given month.

As the parent or guardian, you understand that this is not run by licensed professionals, but by certified life coaches. We are not trained as psychologists, therapists or counselors and will not advise as such.

While we have some first aid training, the safety of each participant is really dependent on individuals. Each member must commit to following directions and maintaining an atmosphere of safety and respect toward self and others.
