TNT Participant Agreement
Our two-hour, weekly TNT sessions run for eight weeks in a closed group of no more than 12. TNT offers a powerful combination of experiences with one overarching purpose: to build confident kids who feel capable, curious and competent in every aspect of life. During each session, kids are encouraged to share their thoughts and questions, get messy, make mistakes, try new things, and develop empathy for one another. These sessions can lead to kids being more resilient, more empathetic, more confident, and more in tune with their bodies and the world around them.
Because our main goal at Tame Your Tech is to establish and maintain optimal screen habits with a focus on stimulating, real life experiences, it’s expected that families will support the participant in enjoying a more play-based childhood. This means giving kids regular opportunities to practice independence, problem solving in the real world, and building real-life, hands-on skills while pushing screen use to the sidelines as much as possible. As part of this effort, you agree to act as the primary support person as your child takes on Let Grow projects during our eight weeks together.
Kids attending these sessions are expected to be respectful toward all members and leaders within the group, in both word and action. They are expected to follow directions and adhere to safety rules at all times.
You as the parent/guardian understand that these sessions are not run by licensed therapists, counselors or psychologists, although our integrative modalities may look similar. While we are trained in basic first aid, we are also not equipped to handle violent outbursts or high levels of defiance.
When it comes to everyday struggles (complaints, emotional withdrawal, bumps and scratches, tearfulness, etc.), we’ll use these as teaching moments to help the child learn from the experience. The child will be given appropriate choices and the chance to self-regulate. Our ultimate goal in these situations is to empower the child to think for themselves and to use this as a chance to prove how capable they really are.
By signing this document, you agree that if a child is unable to make it to a session, no make-up sessions can be arranged and no refunds can be given (except under times of extreme duress). However, we will send you an email to fill you in on what was missed. We’ll also pass along any materials used during the missed session(s) when we see your child again.
You also agree that if your child exhibits any extreme misbehavior while in our care, we will discuss the incident with you afterward and come up with a plan to give the child one more chance to participate with the group. If a second incident occurs, however, the child will not be allowed to return to the group, but a refund will be issued for the remaining sessions he/she will miss.
All staff who work for Tame Your Tech uphold high standards of care and vigilance regarding the safety and well being of each participant. However, in the case of unforeseeable accidents and mishaps, Tame Your Tech will not be held liable.
